- When he was 76 years old, inspired by a rebirth of Canadian
nationalism in the mid-19th century, Gaspé wrote Les Anciens
Canadiens (The Canadians of Old). A French Canadian classic, it is a
romantic historical novel set in Canada at the time of the British
conquest (1760). It is a classic example of the 19th century
French-Canadian novel, first published in French in 1863.

* Tarbell was an American teacher, author and
journalist. She was known as one of the leading "muckrakers" of her
day, work known in modern times in the progressive era as
"investigative journalism." In 2000, she was inducted into the National
Women's Hall of Fame.
* This book contains a series of essays attempting
to interpret certain activities and responsiblities of the average
normal woman, and seeks to offer opinions and ideas on the question:
"What is the relation to society and the future of these old and common
pursuits of the woman?". These essays supplement the author's earlier
book "The Business of Being a Woman". All of these essays have appeared

One of a kind 1965 catalog from famous decorating studio.
JAMES SEEMAN (1914 – 1994) muralist and engineering designer, always
had an exceptional talent for painting. In his native Vienna, he put his
talent to work painting posters for movie theaters. He came to the
United States in 1938 opened his first studio in New York at the war’s
end. Organizing his studio along engineering lines, he created murals on
wallpaper and canvas, did research in painting, printing, and
hand-screening techniques, and produced hand-cast stone and tile
mosaics. He founded James Seeman Studios in 1943, and over time
acquired a worldwide reputation for excellence of design and
highest quality and integrity, with distribution not only throughout the
U.S. and Canada, but in most European countries and Australia and Japan
as well. He sold the company in 1973, to the Masonite, and continued to
work for Masonite until 1976, when he returned to his favorite activity
- fine art painting. The company, James Seeman Studios, ran into
difficulties starting in 1982 and was closed in 1987. In the last years
of his life he was busier than ever with many commissions for his work.
He passed away in 1994. About this book:

This is an over-sized book that appears to be a catalog from this
decorating studio that was world renown in the 1950's and 60's. The
samples therein were developed by Seeman, and are themselves works of
art.
